“Justin has been teaching my son piano for several months now. Normally, my son doesn’t like doing anything extra curricular. But he enjoys piano. I think that is mostly because of Justin. Justin makes it fun for my son. I can hear them laughing and my son is always happy after class. I’m impressed by how much he has learned in a short time. Justin is always reliable and punctual.”

Justin is a wonderful music teacher with knowledge of piano and guitar. He makes the lessons engaging for all the students in our house, whose ages range from 4 to 40 years old. He has exceptional patience with young children and encourages them to stay focused during their lessons by incorporating written music theory, "jam sessions", and movement such as clapping and counting aloud. I am pleased to see our children increasing their musical knowledge and am also enjoying my own lessons. The convenience of having in-home lessons is also wonderful.

- Andrea, guitar student and mother of three piano students

"For over 4 months now I have been taking guitar lessons with Justin. He has tailored the lessons to me as requested, as I had some previous experience, but not with an acoustic guitar. I wanted to make sure I understood theory as much as practical. Justin was always patient with all my questions, but more importantly he didn’t always just give me the answer - he would have me work it out myself (the indicator of a great teacher). Each lesson had structure and built upon each previous lesson. Although each lesson could go off in different directions, we always came back to practicing basic techniques (fingering, chords etc.) I would highly recommend Justin to anyone."

- Bryson Kilborn, novice guitar

Justin has been teaching me for about 5 months now, and he’s introduced me to so many new piano concepts and techniques that I didn’t know before. I like how he always makes me think instead of just giving me the answer, and he’s very patient and encouraging. He’s always made me feel comfortable and unafraid of making mistakes, which is important when learning jazz and improvisation. He has a good sense of humour too, and is not all serious and intimidating like some of my past teachers. I would highly recommend Justin to anyone looking for a teacher who will help them learn and enjoy music like I have.

- Allenna , Advanced Piano

Justin explains the musical concepts in a very relatable way and does not stress me at all during the lessons. He teaches according to my learning style, so the practice is not stressful. His expertise in several instruments has made it convenient to learn several instruments at once. He is a very fun teacher to learn with and has helped me learn piano and guitar at my personalized pace.

-Jerry , Intermediate Piano and Guitar

“I started guitar lessons with Justin in November 2019, having never played previously. My musical background was fairly basic, with a working understanding of music theory and intermediate skills on the piano. During the first lesson, Justin and I discussed my musical goals, which included advancing my music theory and working towards improvisation on the guitar.

The lesson plan Justin has devised so far has been amazing. The lessons focus on a mix of theory and playing technique, with reference to popular songs throughout to make the material fun to play. Whether you are looking to improve musical technique, work on compositions, or simply play your favourite songs, Justin is more than capable of accommodating all skill levels and age groups.

As a teacher, Justin’s passion and enthusiasm for music really comes through. He is able to jump from the guitar to the piano very easily to illustrate lessons concepts, and is able to offer insight on any musical topic. Justin is able to provide both positive re-enforcement and constructive feedback to accelerate the learning process, and does so with a non-judgemental and friendly manner.

-Andrew, Guitar Student (Recently switched to online due to COVID-19)

“My 13 year old son takes private piano lessons with Justin. He is a wonderful instructor and knows how to work with a teenager.  My son was reluctant to continue learning higher level piano and after a few lessons with Justin,  he has gained interest and confidence to continue learning music. Justin relates theory while learning practical music which helps in efficient  piano learning.  He is proficient in multiple instruments and my son also takes drum lessons now.”
